Bioplastics are the future of plastic. With new options like cactus juice, banana, and walnut biodegradable plastics popping up all over Earth, as a result of this movement, we’re inching ever closer towards sustainability.
One of the most innovative and creative start-ups is Lifepack. They are a biodegradable plate and cutlery company that grows into plants! The startup uses materials from corn leaves to pineapple, which can easily be found in nature as well. They put seeds inside the raw material. After you use the item, it will grow as if you planted the seeds yourself.
Papelyco is a line of 100% biodegradable dishes created by Colombian couples, Claudia and Andrés. They were inspired to create these products after learning that 27000 tons of garbage per day were generated from Colombia in 2010 with 4% coming from disposable plates cups containers, and polystyrene foam.
The couple said, “Lifepack is consistent with what it does! Our products are 100% environmentally friendly; we know the massive environmental problem in which we live, increasing day by day! We provide solutions! We generate life! we offer sustainable packaging alternatives. The idea was to sell containers that generate life, not only in the form of plants but also work, to the point that some 190 women were trained to work in the company. Our invention also contributes to the generation of employment in your country. Lifepack generates employment for fathers and mothers head of the family, offering them an opportunity to increase their income. Many farmers benefit from selling their agricultural residue (corn, pineapple, rice, etc.) to Lifepack, which previously generated pollution problems or was simply discarded. Lifepack transforms it and gives it new life”
This company not only provides a solution to the global plastic problem but also adds greenery and more life to our environment. They tackle single-use plastics pollution while nourishing plant life on Earth!
