Lucy and Maria Aylmer are twin sisters and best friends from Gloucester, U.K. Like a lot of twins, they enjoy dressing alike and have been close their whole lives.
But unlike most twins, they’ve never been mistaken for the other twin.
Lucy is a redhead with fair skin and light blue eyes. Maria has dark skin and curly hair with big brown eyes.
Their father, Vince, is Caucasian and their mother, Donna, is half-Jamaican.
“No one ever believes we are twins because I am white and Maria is black,” Lucy says.
“Even when we dress alike, we still don’t even look like sisters, let alone twins.”
“When we’ve met friends for the first time they never believe we are twins, they have even made us produce our birth certificates to prove that we are actually twins.“
Here is a family portrait with Maria and Lucy’s parents and three other siblings.
Both girls are in school currently.
Lucy is studying art and design. Maria studies law and psychology.
Lucy and Maria are incredibly lucky: they have the great parts of twinship while never being mistaken for each other.
Do you have a twin? A sibling you’re always mistaken for? Do you look at all like your siblings?
