Mt. Huashan is a mountain located in China where plenty of people have died. One look at these pictures and you’ll see why. There is a hiking trail that is the world’s most dangerous hiking trail. It reaches a height of 7,087 feet high, and its nickname is “The Heavenly Stairs.”
The paths have had to be reinforced due to a recent influx of tourists and are very dangerous. They have a reputation for fatal falls. Although no official statistics are kept, some say that the number may be as much as about 100 fatal falls a year. Some of the more dangerous parts of the trails have names like Thousand-Foot Precipice, Hundred-Foot Crevice, and Black Dragon Ridge.
It starts out with a nice set of stairs which doesn’t seem like too bad of a hike at first.
Once you get higher, there is a gondola waiting for you to take to the southern peak.
That’s when it takes very dangerous twist.
One wrong step could be fatal.
There is literally nothing to walk on but a tiny plank and a chain to hold you.
