The gentleman featured in this touching story witnessed a moment of human vulnerability and did something to help.
Bear Taliferro, Jr. had just finished working his second shift of the day when he decided to stop by Wal-Mart to pick up dinner. He was in line checking out, he said, when he heard a woman crying in the next aisle.
In his Facebook post, Taliferro Jr. wrote, “Her daughter asked her what’s wrong and she said we can’t afford to eat tonight. A person behind her gave her a couple dollars and she bought her daughter a Kids Cuisine TV dinner. I told her to grab what she wants, I’ll pay for it.” So he did. A selfie he took at the store shows Taliferro Jr. with his new friends shopping in the background.
There’s no doubt that many people wouldn’t have done what this man did. Some might do it out of a sense of obligation, but Taliferro Jr. said on Facebook that he was actually fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. “NEVER stop at this Wal-Mart,” he wrote. “I’m not posting this for likes, I’m simply saying GOD puts you where he needs you to be WHEN he needs you to be there.”
The collective “Amen” of the Internet is demonstrated by the close to one million likes the post received as of November 2015. And the story proves that a little kindness can go a long way, literally. Check out the original Facebook post, below.
