When 13-year-old Laura Bretan auditioned at the 2016 “America’s Got Talent” competition, the judges were aghast at her talent. Looking every bit her age in a heart sweatshirt and flats, Bretan delivered an ageless performance of the opera classic, “Nessun Dorma” .
“I have never heard anything like that in all the years I’ve been doing these shows,” judge Simon Cowell said. “Seriously. It was unbelievable. And what made it even better is the fact that you are such a sweet person – so humble, not even aware of how amazing you are. Thank you so much for coming on this show. That was really, really, really special. Amazing.”
But it was fellow British judge Mel B. that sealed the young girl’s fate. She put the little girl with the great, big voice directly through to the live competition as her Golden Buzzer selection.
“I think this show is going to completely change your life,” the judge and former Spice Girl singer said. “And, I’m going to change your life, right now.” Golden confetti rained down on the contestant as her mother joined her, before they both dissolved into tears.
