You’ve got to love underdog stories and nothing says David and Goliath like these two female boxers going toe to toe.
Vonda Ward — all 6-foot-6 inches of her — was playing Goliath as she defended her light heavyweight championship about the seemingly tiny 5-foot-9 Ann Wolfe.
After trading several, non-lethal jabs with one another, Ward went for a kill shot and missed. Unfortunately for her, Wolfe countered with a kill shot of her own, connected, and as the announcer said — timber!
That would be the only loss of Ward’s career, as she finished 23-1 and eventually won the woman’s heavyweight championship. Wolfe finished at 24-1.
