18-Year-Old Performs A Garth Brooks Classic Flawlessly

Scott McCreery was the winner of season 10’s American Idol, and here is a strong reminder of how he beat out all the stiff competition before him. In this rendition of Garth Brooks’ “The Dance” at the Grand Ole Opry, he starts out by describing his encounter with Brooks at a show in Vegas. The crowd loved the story.

“A little bit about heartbreak and a little bit about love” is how McCreery simply described the song and then it was on! He belted out each line with all his heart and he really stays true to the original with his unwavering voice and solid all around performance. He first got into country at only 17, and after winning Idol he went on to have a best-selling solo country singer album of the year. His journey to stardom is documented in his recent book called “Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream.”
