Basket weaving is one of the oldest known crafts in history. The oldest known basket was made between 10,000 and 12,000 years ago, and weaving is said to even predate the use of clay pottery. The use of weaving since then has not merely been limited to baskets, as everything from clothing and wicker furniture have all adopted the technique. Even modern day Kevlar, carbon fiber, and fiberglass are manufactured by using a similar process.
