Carmen Dell’Orefice, an 84-year-old model is still walking the catwalk, she’s still photographed for the world’s most renowned fashion magazines, and she is regularly featured in advertising campaigns.
The secret of her youth and beauty is fairly simple, she enjoys a good sleep and a good swim and doesn’t worry about her age. Carmen doesn’t keep her plastic surgeries a secret. ’’There is always something to touch up here or there,’’ said Dell’Orefice. But she acknowledges the fact that cosmetic surgery is not enough: according to her, both body and mind should be in good shape.
Carmen started modelling at the age of 15 and has been a Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar cover girl many times. Carmen is in the Guinness Book of Records as the catwalk model with the longest career.
Before her anniversary, Dell’Orefice was interviewed by the popular American magazine New You. ’’I’m a gourmet both in food and sex,’’ she said. That’s easy to believe, because Carmen’s temperament that she got from her Italian father is impossible to overlook.
’’I’ve lived a fabulous life! How many elderly women who had their picture taken for pensioner ID cards by Norman Parkinson do you know?’’ she said in one of her many interviews. Salvador Dali himself called Carmen his muse.
Carmen says she hopes to live to be 100 years old and die ’’wearing high-heeled shoes.’’
