Bailey the beagle might just win for coolest dog trick performance ever, but the fun doesn’t have to stop there. If you want to teach your dog something beyond sit, shake, and beg, read on.
If you don’t have a dog door, teaching your dog to use a bell to signal his need to go outside can be incredibly helpful. Attach a bell to your door handle, first. Then, use a training stick to point out the bell. When your pup touches the bell, give him a treat. Once he’s got that down, start having him touch the bell before he can exit each time you take him outside.
Eventually, he will associate the two, and he’ll be able to give you the signal to avoid any accidents.
