Apple pie is the classic American dessert which remains a summertime staple in households across the country.
While you don’t want to mess with a classic, you can get away with coming up with some unique variations on this classic. Different kinds of apples, interesting toppings and pairing it up with other desserts can work.
Here’s a variation that you may have never seen before. Apple pie fries! This maintains the classic apple pie taste but joins it up with another staple of American food – fries!
This just takes a few ingredients and you are on your way to a delicious dessert in a form you’ve probably never experienced before!
Here’s what you need:
1 Can Apple Pie Filling
2 Pie Crusts (we used Pillsbury)
Eggs for Egg Wash
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp of Nutmeg
You take your apple pie filling and then spread across a ready-made Pillsbury pie crust. Next, take your second pie crust, and place it on top of the bottom crust and the apple filing. Now you want to use a pizza cutter. Make slices into the dough and create fry-like shapes. Now brush them with egg wash and sprinkle on the toppings, on top. Place in oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
Now it’s time to enjoy these apple pie fries! These are totally addictive and you will no doubt be gobbling up more than just one! Share this awesome recipe with friends and family!
